WHAT IS CONQUESTING?
ConQuesting is a free photo-scavenger hunt focused on cosplay and pop culture at DragonCon. In brief, you pick a quest from one of your favorite shows, games, movies, or books, snap a picture of a related cosplay, and show it to us to claim your loot.
HOW DOES THIS WORK?
1. SELECT A QUEST
Quests are listed in The Epic Quest Tome and are color-coded by difficulty: Epic (green – easy), Mythic (blue – medium), and Legendary (purple – hard), with rewards scaling to match.
TIP: Use the Tome’s index or a search function to find your favorite character, fandom, or franchise. (The entire tome is 80 pages long, so paging through it will you take you a long time!)
Alternatively, if you want to be surprised, ask us for a Mystery Quest Scroll (while supplies last). And if you are really up for a challenge, be sure to attempt our brand new Amagiate Quests (more info below).
2. COMPLETE YOUR QUEST
Quests usually involve finding a specific cosplay and taking a selfie with the cosplayer. Please observe basic cosplay etiquette and ask before snapping pictures.
3. FIND US AGAIN TO RECEIVE YOUR LOOT
If you complete your quest quickly, you can simply return to us at the location where you received your quest, or check our schedule to see where we will be throughout the con. Show us the photo proving you’ve completed your quest, and we will give you your reward!

WHAT ARE MYSTERY QUESTS?
Mystery Quests are a great introduction to ConQuesting because they do not require any specific fan knowledge to complete, and rely instead on general powers of observation: find an oversized weapon, talk to an elf, look for somebody in crazy footwear, and so on. The scrolls themselves are printed on high-quality paper and are yours to keep as souvenirs. 🙂
WHAT ARE AMAGIATE QUESTS?
Amagiate Quests are designed to familiarize you with our web serial, Anno Amagium. They could also be considered ConQuesting’s “Hard Mode,” featuring a cooler final reward. Click here for more info!
WHAT ARE THE REWARDS?
C’mon now, isn’t it more fun to be surprised? Truth is, the rewards are humble. We have always done an annual pin with a unique design, and we have since added tiered rewards including badge ribbons, and super-secret legendary loot that changes each year.
CAN I USE MY OWN COSPLAYS TO COMPLETE QUESTS?
Absolutely! If your cosplay is somewhere in our tome (and odds are strong that it is), snap a selfie and tell us which quest you are completing to get loot immediately. Cosplay is hard work and we believe in rewarding creativity. That said, the hunt itself is more than half the fun!
CAN I DO MORE THAN ONE QUEST?
Of course! In fact, you and your party can collect up to three rewards from us. You can keep questing as much as you want after that as well, but after you’ve received Legendary Loot, we have to save some prizes for other adventurers.
WHY ARE YOU GUYS DOING THIS?
Two reasons, and really, only the first reason is necessary: It’s fun. Going on adventures is fun. Meeting new people is fun. Reveling in the absurd beauty of this glorious nerd pageant is fun. Recognizing and celebrating the effort people put into their costumes is fun. Things like this define DragonCon for us and we are proud to contribute to the festivities.
The second reason is, of course, rank capitalism. I am an independent author writing a web serial, and this is the best (read: least distasteful) way I could think of to spread the word about my story. If you appreciate our annual antics, the most meaningful thanks you could possibly give would be to read or listen to the first couple of episodes of Anno Amagium and see if they grab you.
